The Center for Investigative Reporting, in collaboration with UNICEF, organized a training program for students at Universities and Higher Educational Institutes to build capacity to Counter Hate Speech and Fake News. The two-day residential training was held at the Mas Athena Training Centre in Thulhiriya on the 2nd and 3rd of August 2025.

The training was a part of a broader multi-agency collaboration between UNICEF Sri Lanka, United Nations Sri Lanka, and UNDP Sri Lanka to enhance national capacity and readiness to counter harmful content, both online and offline.
