Documentary Films

The Films which have been produced by the undergraduates to complete the course unit in Level III- ‘Digital Storytelling Documentary Filmmaking (CMCH 32023)’. This course unit aims to provide a ‘hands-on’ application of video production principles and techniques with the basic vocabulary, aesthetics, systematic and technical skills required for documentary film production.

‘கூத்து’: The documentary speaks about ‘Kooththu’, a popular folk art performance rooted in Jaffna. There are various types of kooththu performances in Sri Lanka. Among them, ‘Kaaththavarayan Kooththu’ narrates the story from Hindu myths. Basically, it is a type of worship of local deities. ‘Kaaththavarayan Kooththu’ lost its vitality in the modern arena. However ‘Kaaththavarayan Kooththu’ is still performed in some places in Jaffna.
