Documentary Films

The Films which have been produced by the undergraduates to complete the course unit in Level III- ‘Digital Storytelling Documentary Filmmaking (CMCH 32023)’. This course unit aims to provide a ‘hands-on’ application of video production principles and techniques with the basic vocabulary, aesthetics, systematic and technical skills required for documentary film production.

6.	Ms. Sangeetha Nadesalingam (2012/A/272)	‘எச்சம்’: This documentary covers the ‘remains’ in Pungudutheevu which is one of the islands situated in the Northern Sea. The ruined buildings have become the shelter for illegal activities. The people of Pungudutheevu expect the appropriate actions to safeguard the richness of their tradition.

Mr. Rasanajagam Thananchayan (2012/A/352)	கானல்’: The documentary explores the life of refugees who are displaced from the coastal zone of Northern Jaffna and settled in the ‘Kannaki Refugees Camp’ nearly for more than two decades. They are waiting for the resettlement and it is still a mirage for them.
8.	Mr. Subramaniam Vishakan (2012/A/428)	‘கூத்து’: The documentary speaks about ‘Kooththu’, a popular folk art performance rooted in Jaffna. There are various types of kooththu performances in Sri Lanka. Among them, ‘Kaaththavarayan Kooththu’ narrates the story from Hindu myths. Basically, it is a type of worship of local deities. ‘Kaaththavarayan Kooththu’ lost its vitality in the modern arena. However ‘Kaaththavarayan Kooththu’ is still performed in some places in Jaffna.

10.	Ms. R. Shiyamala (2012/A/304)	‘றோலர்’: The Documentary speaks about the daily life of Fishermen. it covers their struggles, lifestyle and their livelihood.
11.	Ms. N. Gowuthame (2012/A/077)	‘ஏதிலி’: The documentary explores the life of an old couple who were resettled in Tellippalai, the area was newly declared to public access after more than two decades from the clutches of government forces as a ‘High-Security Zone’.
12.	Ms. Thadshayini Thevarajah (2012/A/347)	‘மாற்றத்தைத் தேடி’: The documentary exposes the life of the beggars in Jaffna city limits who are running their lives with numerous threats and challenges every day. Most of them do not have any hope to back to their normal routine life.
13.	Mr. Ramanathan Jeyanthan (2012/A/099)	‘வழுக்கையாறு’: The documentary focuses on ‘Vazhukkaiyaaru’, the one and only seasonal river in Jaffna. This documentary covered the importance of ‘Vazhukkaiyaaru’ which is popular for the local biodiversity. The river rises near Tellippalai, before flowing southwest through Kantharodai, Sandilippai and Vaddukoddai. The river ends at Jaffna lagoon near at Araly.
