Department of Media Studies organized the event to introduce the Book ‘நினைவு நல்லது’ (Ninaivu Nallathu) written by Mr.P.Wickneswaran, a veteran Tamil Broadcaster on the 29th of August 2023 at the Library Auditorium of University of Jaffna.

‘நினைவு நல்லது’ (Ninaivu Nallathu) is a memoir of a Tamil broadcaster for more than fifty years and it is the collection of columns written by Mr.P.Wickneswaran in the ‘தாய் வீடு’ (Thaiveedu), Tamil Monthly Newspaper from Toronto, Canada for six years.

The event was chaired by Prof. S. Raguram, Dean, Faculty of Arts. The welcome address was delivered by Ms.S.Poongulaly, Head, Department of Media Studies. The chairperson note was given by Prof.S.Raguram, Dean, Faculty of Arts.

The first issue was handed over by Mr.P.Wickneswaran, the author of the book to Mr.K.Baskaran, Director, IBC Tamil. The special issues were presented to the guests and free issues were also handed over to schools which have taught ‘Communication and Media Studies’ at ordinary and advanced levels.

The wishes for the event was shared by Emeritus Professor N.Shanmugalingan, Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna. The introductory speech was given by Mr.Ganapathy Sarvanatha, Senior Journalist. The book was reviewed by Mr.Nilanthan, Political Analyst, and Mr.S. Visvanathan, Former Director (Tamil Division) of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation. The acceptance speech was delivered by the author, Mr. P. Wickneswaran, and the vote of thanks was given by Mr. Dinesh Koduthor, Senior Lecturer, Department of Media Studies.

The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Heads and Staff of other Departments, Senior Journalists, Alumni of Media Studies, Teachers, School Students, University Students and well-wishers also participated in this occasion.
