The Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna, successfully conducted the 5th Undergraduate Research Symposium in Arts (URSA–2025) on 8th October 2025. The symposium serves as a dynamic platform for undergraduate students to present and share their research findings with a wider academic audience.
It was held under the umbrella of the Jaffna University International Research Conference (JUICe), this year’s symposium was themed “Knowledge in Action: Bridging Disciplines to Empower Change.”
The event was convened by Mrs. C. A. Hensman, Senior Lecturer, and chaired by Prof. S. Raguram, Dean of the Faculty of Arts. Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while the Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. A. S. Chandrabose, Retired Professor of Social Sciences, Open University of Sri Lanka.
A total of 13 research papers were presented by undergraduate students of the Department of Media Studies, under the guidance and supervision of their lecturers, showcasing innovative research and critical insights across diverse areas of media and communication.
