The release ceremony of ‘Kanali Volume-05′, the students’ magazine of Media Studies held on the 04th of October 2024 at the Library Auditorium of the University of Jaffna.

‘Kanali’ is an outcome of the course unit of ‘Newspaper Editing: Concepts and Processes’ (CMCH 22023) in Level II of Media Studies which comprises the articles and interviews.

The ceremony was chaired by Ms.S.Poongulaly, Head, Department of Media Studies. Prof.S.Srisatkunarasa Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Prof.S.Raguram, Dean, Faculty of Arts as the Special Guest.

The event commenced with the lighting of the oil lamps by the guests. The welcome address was delivered by Ms.J.P.Mary Liyoniya, Student of Media Studies. The chairperson note was given by Ms.S.Poongulaly, Head, Department of Media Studies and the special addresses were delivered by Prof.S.Raguram, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Prof.S.Srisatkunarasa, Vice-Chancellor of University of Jaffna.

The first issue was handed over by Prof.S.Raguram, Dean, Faculty of Arts to Prof.S.Srisatkunarasa, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna. The special issues were presented to the guests by the Vice-Chancellor, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Head, Department of Media Studies and Ms.G.Anutharsi, Lecturer, Department of Media Studies.

The wishes for the event were shared by Ms.G.Anutharsi, Lecturer, Department of Media Studies. The magazine was reviewed by Mr.T.Ajanthakumar, Lecturer, Department of Tamil and Mr.Bharathy Rajanayagam, Senior Journalist. The vote of thanks was given by Mr.S.Priyatharsan Croos, a Student of Media Studies.

Prof.P.Ravirajan, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr.(Mrs).M.Visakaruban, Deputy Librarian, Ms.K.Sumithra, Deputy Registrar – Faculty of Arts, Professors, Heads and Staff of other Departments, Senior Journalists, Alumni of Media Studies and Students also participated.
