Ms. Thusiyanthi Parameswaran, a Fourth Year Media Studies student won second place in the Provincial Level Photography Competition which was conducted by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Rehabilitation, Social Services, Cooperatives, Food Supply & Distribution, Industries & Enterprises Promotion and Trade & Commerce of Northern Province.
The Competition was held under the theme of “Prioritizing Social and Economic Development of Women” to commemorate ‘International Women’s Day – 2023’.
The submissions were evaluated by the panel of Judges and the winners of the best photograph and short film competition were honoured with certificates and cash prizes on the celebration of International Women’s Day of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Northern Province held on 15th of March 2023.
Media Studies has given an opportunity to the students to learn photography under the ‘Photo Journalism’ course unit as per the curriculum in the Second year of the study programme in order to design visual storytelling through different types of photographs and plan different techniques in photography based on the necessity and significance of the situations as intended learning outcomes.
