Ms.Kirijah Arulpirakasam, a student of the Department of Media Studies awarded ‘Prof. Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medal’ for All-Round Performance

Ms. Kirijah Arulpirakasam, a student from the Department of Media Studies (Honours) Degree student awarded the Prof. Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medals for her overall performance at the University Level in the Academic Year 2021.
University of Jaffna awards prestigious Prof. Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medals annually to the students based on their all-round performances at each Faculty level and University level. The award was established in 1994, and the awards have been presented at the General Convocation each year.

The Awards are given based on the scheme of selection, which contains the following criteria:

1. Academic Achievements
2. Sports Activities
3. Welfare Activities
4. Cultural Activities
5. Dissemination of Knowledge

Ms. Kirijah Arulpirakasam was awarded the Gold Medal at the 40th General Convocation of the University of Jaffna, held on the 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd of February 2026 at the University’s Indoor Stadium.
She is the second recipient of the prestigious Prof. Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medal from the Department of Media Studies. The first recipient was Mr. Antony Jesuradnam Siri, who received the award during the Academic Year 2017.
